We have a Complaints Procedure in place which deals with how we handle complaints. This is available on request and will be sent to you should you make a complaint. We have eight weeks to consider your complaint. If we have not resolved it within this time you may complain to the Legal Ombudsman.
If the complaint or challenge relates to a bill, you also have a right to apply to object to the bill by applying to the court for assessment of the bill under Part III of the Solicitors Act 1974. However, we would point out that if all or part of a bill remains unpaid, we would be entitled to charge interest.
Legal Ombudsman
If you are not satisfied with our handling of the complaint, you can ask the Legal Ombudsman to consider the complaint:
Normally, you will need to bring a complaint to the Legal Ombudsman within six months of receiving a final written response from us about your complaint or within six years of the act or omission about which you are complaining (if outside of this period, within three years of when you should reasonably have been aware of it).
Important Information
Please also review the Terms of Engagement which set out how, to whom, and time limits of complaints.
Please be assured that making a complaint will not affect in any way the level of service you receive from us and you will not be charged for the complaint handling process. We are obliged to treat you fairly at all times and in accordance with regulatory requirements as set out in our Terms of Engagement in the provision of service to you and conduct of litigation.
